OUTCOME BASED LEARNING
EVERYBODY IS A GENIUS. BUT IF YOU JUDGE A FISH BY ITS ABILITY TO CLIMB A TREE,
IT WILL LIVE ITS WHOLE LIFE BELIEVING THAT IT IS STUPID.
We are lagging off with a very old method where we believe in what a student has already achieved. We still rely on ranks and grades to evaluate the potential of a student. This is where outcome based OUTCOME BASED LEARNING comes into the picture. There is no single specified style of teaching in outcome based learning. It has all the characters that understands proficiency matters. Outcome based learning is a continuous quality improvment.
Outcome based learning is a HOLISTIC APPROACH which converts a student into a great person, based on desired outcomes and defined goals. It is a type of learning experience based on predefined goals. At the end of this learning experience each student is expected to have achieved that goal. A system is needed to keep a continuous track on the outcome of each assessments, this will effienctly implement outcome based learning. It is all about clearly focusing and organising everything in an educational system around the essentials for a student.
OUTCOME BASED LEARNING HAS CERTAIN SIGNIFICANT TERMS;
1. IT HAS DESIRED OUTCOME GOALS BASED ASSESMENT.
2. AS THE LEARNING IS COMPLETED IT IMPLIES THAT THE LEARNER HAS ACHIEVED SET GOALS.
3. THE JUDGEMENT METHOD IN OUTCOME BASED LEARNING IS SHAPED FROM CONTINUOUS EVALUATION.
4. IT INCLUDES BOTH FORMATIVE AS WELL AS SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS.
Outcome based learning basically means first making a clear picture of what is important for the students to do, than organising a curriculum with the instructions and at the end the assesments under continuous evaluation. This process is to be done to make sure that the learning ultimately happens. There are different types of teaching or learning in outcome based learning that are:
